3.18.20 Update From Superintendent
03/18/2020
Governor Tony Evers announced Tuesday afternoon that Wisconsin’s K-12 schools are now closed “for the duration of the public health emergency.” (The previous tentative date to resume school was April 6). During this time, it will be our goal to continue to provide your child with a quality education to the best of our abilities. Virtual learning is a new experience for all of us, but we are hopeful that it will continue to meet the needs of our students. The probability of an extended and prolonged closure brings into question some of our time-honored events including high school events such as Prom, Scholarship Night and Graduation as well as LGMS Graduation/Promotion. We are still planning on having these events, but they may have their dates and format changed depending upon the length of our closure. Further communication will take place surrounding these and other scheduled school events. However, none will take place until school resumes or the public health emergency comes to an end. Our school offices and the administration building will remain open with revised hours of operation. Those hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. until further notice. Office and administrative staff will be available during this time. It would still be safer for all to contact your school by phone or e-mail, but if you have to enter the building, please practice social distancing by trying to keep a six-foot distance between our office or administrative staff and yourself.

Dear Parents and Guardians, The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount, and we are closely monitoring the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please note that our cleaning staff at all schools is taking additional measures to ensure all surfaces are being sterilized daily including desks, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, etc. Additional hand sanitizer stations have also been added throughout school buildings. At this time, we have no known cases of COVID-19 among students or staff in Lake Geneva Schools or in the Walworth County area. Nonetheless, I felt it appropriate to provide an update regarding our planning. We continue to work closely with the local Health Department to monitor this situation and share information in a proactive fashion to enhance preparedness. We have updated our plans and are currently in the process of finalizing details associated with providing for remote educational options, food service options, and other miscellaneous planning should a prolonged school closure become necessary in the future.

Badger and the Lake Geneva Jt. #1 Schools will be offering e-registration again this summer. E-registration is a convenient approach to student registration which minimizes most of the paperwork collected at the August registration/open house events held at each of the schools. E-registration streamlines such things as picking up calendars, schedules, paying fees, filling out last-minute forms, etc. If you do not have a computer, each school will provide times when you may use theirs. Watch for more information on this coming soon. If you are already familiar with our PowerSchool program, you will log in the same way to begin the e-registration process – please see the PowerSchool section below for important reminders. If you are using PowerSchool for the first time, instructions are provided below. Please note that parent/student logins will be disabled all summer until the e-registration window opens August 1st.
