Gifted & Talented
The Lake Geneva Schools recognizes that great diversity exists among our learners. All of our students are expected to receive instruction that helps each child work toward his or her next level of challenge in all subject areas.
All students learn at a different pace and at a different depth from other students. To meet these needs, teachers use differentiation as a tool to meet varying student needs. Differentiation may include acceleration of a subject area through Advanced Placement courses, honors classes, compacting units of study, tiered assignments in the classroom, grade acceleration for a certain subject, working in a cluster of students with the same high level of instructional needs, or intervention group work.
In most cases, differentiation strategies are integrated daily throughout the curricular areas rather than occurring as special events. The majority of students will have their academic needs met in the general education classroom. In special circumstances, select students may require additional educational experiences. The programming will provide appropriate options to meet the needs of identified students.

ADVANCED LEARNER IDENTIFICATION
For identification of advanced learners, Lake Geneva Schools use a number of assessment tools including i-Ready, AIWSweb, Forward Exam, ACT Aspire, and ACT. Data is reviewed for students with scores consistently trending at the 95th - 99th percentile. Additionally, scores on district assessments, evidence from classroom performance, and input from teachers and parents are reviewed. The majority of identified students will have their academic needs met in the general education classroom through differentiated instruction. This may involve modifications to instructional delivery, instructional content, and/or the need for additional educational resources. In unique circumstances, select students may require additional educational programming to meet the needs of the student.
ADVANCED LEARNER ACTIVITIES
The Lake Geneva Schools belong to the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network (SLALN). This organization offers student programming, staff development, and professional networking opportunities for its members. The goal of the group is to meet the needs of advanced learners throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and offer educational opportunities that enhance the learning experience. Below are some of the SLALN offerings that Lake Geneva Schools has participated in and plans to continue participation in moving forward.
